Alan Rickman rooting for swag at the Sundance Film Festival Photo: LA Times(Swag is what small and large, doing well and not doing well businesses give to celebrities at big events in exchange for the off chance they'll be photographed with the item. "Swag bags" are what they call the goody-filled totes crammed with free things).
Now, doesn't it warm your heart to know that there are programs to give free things to wealthy actors? Does seeing Alan Rickman posing with this shaver make you want to go buy one? Maybe you'll be like him? Or at the very least, just concentrating on the shaver will help you overlook the really bad hair dye he's sporting. (To be fair, they do agree to pay sales taxes ...somewhere down the line)
Rickman is posing with a $140.00 shaver, whose company makes the claim: "Axis Air takes you where you've never been with an electric shaver."
Ouch. Oh, sugar daaaaady.....please, don't tell us where Alan Rickman is going next.

Sneverus Snape Snags Shaver
Now say this, ten time fast
Ha! Very good!
...I wonder what else he took...
It must be so odd having stuff pressed upon you just because of the work you do.
I can always say no to the free pens, mugs and teeshirts that get handed out at conferences and the like, but I'm not so sure if I could resist free high end stuff. Even if I had the money to pay for it myself. Tricky.
Bill Clinton attended a signing a New York Barnes & Noble, and the media followed him. He picked up a copy of my friend's brother's book and handed to an assistant to purchase it.
The sales for the book (Michael Wex's Born to Kvetch) must have spiked after that exchange!
Okay, so tell me Chumplet... how was the Axis shaver and did you just nudge Alan Rickman in the morning or did you just go out and buy one?
"JK Rowling doesn't have to do this."
"Emma Thompson never does this."
"Hugh Grant doesn't do this."
"Colin Firth never does this."
"Oh shit. How about making DieHard 5?"
