Ulla's Birthday Mug

My friend Ulla will be celebrating her birthday at the end of this month. I'm inviting her friends to dress their dog, lift a cup of coffee, dash off a note, wear a pin, put a magnet on the fridge with a picture of her taken when she first came to the US back in the 60's!

All of the profits go to Ulla to celebrate in any style she wishes. Times are tough for everyone as of late, and through this maelstrom, Ulla continues to think of others and manages to maintain her buoyant laugh.

The story behind the photo is this. It was during the Vietnam War. Collin was an officer in the US Army and stationed in Germany. He met Ulla. Obviously, she was the most gorgeous thing this Alaskan had ever seen. He was smitten, and promises were made that she would visit.

Whether or not Collin knew she would arrive in NYC with her Porsche Cabriolet is probably up for debate. Regardless, Ulla landed in STYLE! Only problem was Collin was in Alaska. So she drove over the plains, across the continental divide, up the Pacific Northwest, through Alaska, and on the Al-Can highway, which at that time was little more than a road that on occasion had asphalt.

She met him up there.
And the rest is history.
So stop by the Easy-Writer Store and buy a mug. Give a toast to a dear friend!
